Bronze Sculpture of Fergie Jenkins

This full-size replica of the bronze statue of a statue by Lou Cella that sits outside of Chicago's Wrigley Field. Fergie Jenkins is a local baseball hero and former MLB pitcher. He was the first Canadian ever elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. and holds multiple impressive awards and track records during his career.

Blending street roots with contemporary style, Marlbobro, memorialized local icons Mary Ann Shadd, Rev. William King, and Fergie Jenkins - all of who have made significant contributions to excellence as Canadians and Black leaders.
Mary Ann Shadd was an American-Canadian abolitionist, journalist and lawyer who was the first Black woman publisher in North America and the first woman publisher in Canada.
Rev. William King was an Irish-born Presbyterian minister and abolitionist who founded the Elgin Settlement (later Buxton) in southwestern Ontario. But Buxton is most known for is being a thriving, self-sufficient community for formerly enslaved Black people and fugitive slaves. His humanitarian convictions helped erase racial barriers and left a lasting legacy in Canadian history.
Fergie Jenkins is a Canadian baseball legend and Hall of Fame pitcher who became the first Canadian inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Widely respected for his skill, perseverance, and trailblazing career, he remains one of the most influential athletes in Canadian sports history. This piece was installed as Part of CK CanJam 2025.

Changing Memorial Square from a war memorial to a peace memorial. The mural showcases the images of five local veterans and images in the local archive. Adjacent to the art is a sign with their names and a scanning code where people can delve further into the history of each individual or click here to view the archive.
The mural was commissioned to honour the locals who paid the price for freedom as part of the Gathering Our Heroes Project and spearheaded by the IODE Kent Regiment chapter, the Gathering Our Heroes, Chatham-Kent WW I and WW II Enlistments project is a collaboration between the Chatham-Kent Museum, Abstract Marketing and historian Jerry Hind, curator of the initiative.

Artist: McIntosh Granite Co. supplied the stone and F.G. Tickle & Sons created the statue.
Completed on November 8, 1923, local citizens and organizations built the Soldiers Memorial as a fitting remembrance to those who fought in the First World War and later included elements to recognize the Second World War, Korean War and Afghanistan War as a tribute to the 697 men and women from the area who gave their lives in conflicts.
The cenotaph sits on a battlefield from the War of 1812. This spot held the only remaining bridge over the creek and was the focal point Skirmish at the Forks. Tecumseh himself was wounded here and killed the next day in the Battle of the Thames.

Robert Indiana was a leader in the pop art movement in the 1960's & 1970's. His iconic LOVE is recognized across the world. Visuals of the stacked letters were reproduced as greeting cards cards, silk screen posters, oil paintings, postage stamps and sculptures. Variations for the LOVE sculpture can be found in Philadelphia, New Castle, New York City, Washington and Jerusalem. This is part of Retro Suites Hotel's private collection.

The mural depicts the wealth and opportunity that the railway brought to Chatham. The convergence of rail lines transformed Chatham in the late 1800s into an industrial and commercial hub, spurring growth into the early 20th century. A station was built in 1879, then replaced with the brick station in 1912, which is now a heritage-designated railway station and the VIA Rail building we see today at 360 Queen Street.
