Call for Entry 2025 Mural Project
PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF PROJECT APPLICATION REVISIONS
As of Thursday, September 26th the following form has been updated.
THE PROJECT:
The Historic Downtown Chatham Business Improvement Association (BIA) seeks to renew a prominent public space, on the east facing wall of the “River Rock Social House” building at 4th Street and King Street West through a revitalized mural project.
The BIA seeks submissions for the Downtown Chatham Mural Project 2025, to promote the theme: INSPIRE COMMUNITY PRIDE THROUGH THE EXPLORATION OF OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE WITHIN CHATHAM.
The final mural will be selected by a jury of experts. Three winning submissions will have the digital files printed (measuring 12’ wide x 16’ high) and installed on the side of River Rock as part of a three panel triad mural.
Established and upcoming artists are invited to submit up to 3 original works from which three winning entries will be digitally printed and installed on 187 King Street West by the Historic Downtown Chatham BIA. By installing a digital print to the wall, the need to paint directly onto the surface is eliminated; making this public art project more accessible to a larger pool of artists by removing physical barriers and expanding the type of artworks that can be accepted.
WHAT THE WINNING ARTISTS WILL RECEIVE
- A payment of $2,000.
- A 12 by 16 foot print of their work, for years, in a prominent location in downtown Chatham.
- A QR Code beneath their print, linked to the artist’s choice of their website or social media handle.
- Publicity when the murals are unveiled.
- Their name and artwork title beneath their panel.
HOW TO SUBMIT
All submissions must be submitted digitally and exported at a minimum of 300 ppi (pixels per inch) or as a scaled vector artwork (.ai, .eps or .svg files). For original artworks created in software like Photoshop or Procreate, we recommend files are at least 5760px X 3840px @ 300 dpi. For original artworks created on canvas, the image must be arranged vertically to fit a 3:4 ratio to ensure sizing will match the mural panels.
One entry = one panel of the mural. Artists may submit a maximum of 3 entries.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to all emerging and established artists who are Canadian residents.
LOCATION OF INSTALLATION
The East facing wall on 187 King Street West (River Rock Social House) at the corner of 4th Street and King Street West where there is an existing mural by Penelope Duchesne.
